“My current body of work document an exploration into the traditional genre of the human figure reconnecting with nature outdoors. These paintings have evolved with me as I continue to search for artistic solutions that reveals the evidence of my technical picture-making process. In this attempt to demystify yet elicit a sense of appreciation for the procedure of painting, it has been imperative to strike a balance between its exposure and more refined focal points. My goal is to have each composition emanate from a near realistic focal point, that fades into a vignette of increasingly desaturated-paint and exposed-charcoal marks. The highly rendered figures prove my competency as a painter and can be bordered by more supportive and expressive abstract imagery of flora.”
